The "It's Been A While..." Update
A lot has happened in the past two months!
In May, INN volunteered at Cafe 458 in Atlanta, cooking and serving brunch to raise money for the Samaritan House. It was a very busy, and extremely rewarding time! Everyone really enjoyed the experience and we are looking forward to planning our next volunteer day with the cafe.
On June 2nd, we began studying the book of Daniel with Beth Moore's teaching series Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophesy. This series is so incredibly thought-provoking and intense--we are already getting oh-so much out of it, and we're only three weeks in! It's not too late to join us, either!!! We meet for the study at 6:00 every Monday at Cat's house (call or email for directions/info).
Our June meeting was held at Dayspring Church's @ Java coffee-house, since we have outgrown Woodstock Coffee House! @ Java has plenty of room, comfy couches, and a perfectly relaxing environment; we are so pleased to make it our new meeting location. We hope you'll join us for our next meeting, which will be held on July 12th.
In June's meeting, we discussed the many uses of vinegar and baking soda, and all the ways we can benefit from using these two simple, inexpensive items as alternatives to chemical-based products. I have already started following some of the tips given and I couldn't be happier! Are you using natural alternatives to chemical cleaners, health and beauty products, or gardening materials? Let us know what you are doing and how it's helped to save you money and decrease your material waste.
We also collected a whole box full of scarves for our Crafty for the Kingdom drive! We have officially met our goal of 100 items!!! However, we really want to bless as many people as possible, so, please, keep knitting!!!! As a little bit of incentive to hit the yarn, this Winter, we will be giving a special gift to the person who has donated the most items to INN's Crafty for the Kingdom collection. :) I can't wait to see what you guys can do!
We hope to see you at the July 12th meeting-- Emily will be announcing an awesome new INN endeavour!

04/12/08 Meeting
Truly, I have no words to describe how inspired and amazed I felt at the close of our last meeting. God is so Good!
Crafty for the Kingdom:
We collected 57 items at our meeting on Saturday!!!!!
What seemed like an unattainable goal in January is now completely within our reach. But it's not over yet--we still have over 7 months left. I want to challenge each of you to work even harder, keeping in mind that there are over 13,000 homeless men, women and children in the Atlanta area, so that we can absolutely shatter our original goal and touch even MORE lives!!We have also secured a partnership with Samaritan House of Atlanta for distribution! Samaritan House of Atlanta transforms lives by helping homeless men and women gain self-sufficiency through personalized employment readiness and life-stabilization programs. Please visit their website to learn more about this awesome organization and other ways that you can help to improve the lives of Atlanta's homeless.
Green-ups:
Due to rising water-levels at Lake Allatoona, the April 12th Green-Up was cancelled. We are currently investigating new Green-Up locations (such as Kennesaw Mountain, local parks, etc), and will be sending an email soon. If you have suggestions, or would like to be added to our mailing list, please email us at INNWhen@yahoo.com
May 10th Meeting:
We will be volunteering at Samaritan House Atlanta (our distribution partner) from 8:30-1:30 on May 10th. Afterward, we will have an informal meeting downtown over lunch (location TBA). We will need a final head-count by May 1st, so if you want to join us, please let us know as soon as possible.
Samaritan House is located on Edgewood Avenue in down-town Atlanta. Volunteers may be asked to do a number of tasks, from administrative duties to manual labor, so please dress appropriately (comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting messy).
Thanks again for all of your support!!!!!

2/02/08 Meeting
INN, When? had another successful meeting on February 2nd. For those of you who couldn't make it, here is an overview:
Crafty for the Kingdom
At our meeting on Saturday, we collected our first donations for the Crafty for the Kingdom drive.
I wanted to give you guys an update of what we have so far, only 4 weeks in to the project:

We are right on schedule with 3 hats, 7 scarves and two pairs of gloves.
Our first official collection date is scheduled for April 12th. Feel free to give your items to any of our members at any time, or come by the Woodstock Coffee House on April 12th from 10:30-12am, where will be holding our monthly meeting for April.
I'm very excited to announce that Dayspring Church is supporting this ministry by including our Crafty for the Kingdom project in their Sunday Bulletins. Thank You, Dayspring!!!
Green-Up Crews
The Allatoona Green-up will be in March, for those who wish to participate. I will post the exact date and time on this site as soon as it is scheduled. Please check back regularly!
And now, for a word from Cat :)
In our monthly meetings, not only do we try to encourage one another to meet our group goals, but we also want to see each member reach personal goals that help them grow in the Lord.
I want to congratulate those of you who met your goals this month for recycling, using cloth (napkins and grocery sacks), and buying less. Thank you for your amazing dedication to the stewardship of God's creation!!!
I'm so excited to see goals for February that include daily scripture readings and walking in the Fruits of the Spirit! I am positively ecstatic to be a part of this organization, and I thank God for each of you!
To God be the Glory!

1/12/08 Meeting: What you may have missed.
We will be meeting at 12:45, Saturday, January 19th at Dayspring Church on Kellogg Creek Rd. We will leave promptly at 1 for the Lake, so please do not be late. For directions to Dayspring or Lake Allatoona, email INNWhen@yahoo.com.
Bring used bags and/or reusable containers suitable for trash pick-up. If all goes well, we will be getting dirty, so wear appropriate clothing. :)
Crafty for the Kingdom 2008
Our first collection date will be April 12th. (If you are sending items from out-of-state, email us for a mailing address.) Please comment with your pledge or goal! I'd love to be able to encourage all of you!!
I was recently asked why we are asking for hand-made items. I know that nothing makes me feel more special, and more appreciated , than receiving something that was hand-made for me. That is what we want to share with the homeless of Atlanta. We want them to see that someone took the time to make something especially for them, because they are precious and loved. However, we will gladly accept gently-used or store-bought clothing. I do hope that you'll pray for the recipient of your item(s). I believe they will all be so blessed by your thoughtfulness. (And feel free to include a note to your recipient!)
Please Note:
February and March meetings have been moved to the first Saturday of the month (2/02; 3/01).

2008
Major projects in 2008:
INN, When? wants to be Crafty for the Kingdom! Can you knit, crochet or sew? Then we need your help! We want to collect at least 100 hand-made scarves, hats, and/or gloves for the homeless men, women and children in our lovely home city of Atlanta, Georgia. Before you feel discouraged at such a large number, please consider two things:
1. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phil 4:13)
2. Atlanta is home to nearly 13,000 homeless people. Families are the largest growing segment of homeless in Atlanta, and those families usually consist of single mothers with children. (Research Atlanta).
Obviously, 100 lovingly-made items is not nearly as ambitious as, say, 13,000. We'll have to work up to that. :) So, I hope you can appreciate that we are starting with a small, completely attainable goal. And we need YOUR help!!
INN, When? would also like to organize Green-up Crews who are willing to meet once a month and pick-up trash at their local public greens (parks, schools, wherever!). Green-up Crews should be willing to dedicate (at least) one hour to their tasks (preferably at a location within walking/biking distance). I am absolutely over-joyed at the idea of leaving these places greener than we found them!!!
Schedule:
INN, When? meets on the 2nd Saturday of every month in Kennesaw, Georgia. If you are interested in participating, or wish to learn more about INN, When? and its goals, please email innwhen@yahoo.com.
